DALLAS, Texas – The Murray State Aggies put on a monster offensive showcase in building an 18-run lead and never looked back in a 19-2 road romp over Richland College on Monday.
The Aggies scored two in the first, one in the second and third stanzas, four in the fourth and a huge 10-run flurry in the fifth before the Thunderducks ever got on the board.
Zach Makarewich was in the midst of most of the big explosion, notching two of his four hits in the game during the fifth frame burst.
Junho Son and
Brady Taylor both accounted for two hits apiece as each had a double. Taylor drove in four and Son knocked in three runs. They also picked up a pair of hits from
Nick Vickery as
Austin Haley and
Michael Barham added one apiece.
Five Aggies all saw limited mound action, including a three-inning outing from
Carson Culbreath as he yielded two hits and struck out a pair.
Tayte Dome struck out all three batters he faced in one inning.
Caden Allen was credited with the mound win with one frame, allowing one run and two hits with three strikeouts.
Kyndon Lovell and
Lane Springfield also contributed a frame of relief apiece.
With the victory Murray State improved to 30-15 on the season and will jump back into conference play on Thursday at Redlands Community College in El Reno.
