No. 1 Seed Aggies Advance to Region 2 Championship

Murray State won two more games in the Region 2 Tournament on Saturday

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ENID, Okla. - The Murray State College baseball team put together a thrilling day at the ballpark, sweeping a pair of games with a dramatic 4-3 walk-off win over South Arkansas College followed by a 5-3 victory against NOC-Enid. With the wins, the Aggies forced the if necessary game on Sunday with the winner of tomorrow's contest being crowned Region 2 Tournament Champions.

Game 1: Murray State 4, South Arkansas 3
Murray State jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the first inning when Brady Taylor blasted a solo home run to right field. Just moments later, Tanner Norman followed with a solo shot of his own to left field, giving the Aggies a quick 2-0 advantage.
 
South Arkansas College answered in the third inning with a two-run single that tied the game at two, but the Aggies responded immediately in the bottom half of the inning. Rayner Beene delivered a solo home run to right field to put Murray State back in front, 3-2.
 
The Stars tied the game again in the eighth inning on an RBI single, setting up a dramatic finish in the ninth.
 
With the score knotted at three, Brady LaViolette stepped to the plate in the bottom of the ninth and crushed a walk-off home run to left field, sealing the 4-3 victory for the Aggies.
 
Carson Culbreth got the start on the mound as he threw three innings, while striking out two and allowing two runs. Hank Brown fired 4 â…” innings in relief, while striking out four and giving up one run. Chance Baker picked up the win as he threw 1 â…“ inning, while striking out two.
 
Game 2: Murray State 5, NOC-Enid 3
Michael Barham got Murray State on the board early with a solo home run to left field in the first inning.
 
The Aggies added another run in the fourth when Marlon Moore lifted a sacrifice fly to right field that scored Tanner Norman and pushed the lead to 2-0.
 
Barham struck again in the fifth inning, launching his second home run of the game, a two-run shot to left field that also brought home Eli Ramirez and extended the Aggie lead to four.
 
NOC-Enid battled back with two runs in the sixth inning, but Murray State answered immediately when Fernando Jorge connected on a solo home run to left field to make it 5-2.
 
The Jets added one more run in the eighth inning, but the Aggies held on for the 5-3 victory.
 
Brance Garrett got the ball for the Aggies. Garrett earned the win as he threw six innings, while striking out five and allowing two earned runs. Heath Graf threw the seventh inning and Tayte Dome closed out the game with two scoreless innings, while striking out two.
 
The Aggies will now play on Sunday in the Region 2 Tournament championship game against NOC-Enid. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
