Coach Nate Levine's Murray State Lady Aggies steadily pulled away through the first three periods while cruising past Connors State College, 70-51, in Region 2 basketball play on Thursday night.
The Lady Aggies upped their record to 19-3 overall and remained tied atop the league standings at 9-1 heading into their next conference outing on the road at Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa on Monday night.
Murray State rode a balanced scoring assault that included eight different players all tallying between six and 12 points for the game.
Levine's crew was up 16-11 after one period and then built the margin to 36-23 at intermission spurred by nine points from
Olivia Quapaw, who finished as the game's leading scorer. A 22-9 third quarter scoring burst gave the Lady Aggies a commanding 26-point advantage and they coasted home the rest of the way.
Quapaw topped a trio of double figure scorers for Murray with 12 points as
Mya Cotto tossed in 11 and
Mireia Casas checked in with 10. Those three combined for seven three pointers on the night.
Ongolea Afu contributed nine,
Arissa Garcia and
Jordyn McNeal notched eight each with
Taja Bennett and
Latai Charles both adding six points.
