MUSKOGEE, Okla. - The top-seeded Murray State College women's basketball team used a strong fourth-quarter performance to defeat No. 5 seed Seminole State College, 71–64, in the semifinals of the NJCAA Region 2 Tournament.
Murray State came out strong in the opening quarter, establishing momentum early on both ends of the floor. The Lady Aggies controlled the tempo and built a 23–17 lead after the first quarter.
Seminole State responded in the second quarter, finding its rhythm offensively and gradually erasing the deficit. The Trojans used a strong run in the period to take the lead and carried a 43–39 advantage into halftime.
The third quarter remained tightly contested as both teams traded baskets throughout the period. Neither side could gain much separation, but Seminole State narrowly held the lead heading into the final quarter, 55–54.
In the fourth quarter, the Lady Aggies delivered their best stretch of the game. Murray State tightened its defense and executed offensively down the stretch, holding Seminole State to just nine points in the period while pulling away late to secure the 71–64 victory.
Keshanti Gordon led Murray State with 25 points, helping power the Lady Aggies' comeback in the final quarter.
Aniah Richard chipped in with 14 points
The Lady Aggies will No. 2 NEO A&M on Saturday. Tipoff is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
