WILBURTON, Okla – In spite of playing without two of their top six players due to minor injuries, the Murray State Lady Aggies had little trouble bouncing back into the win column with a 66-36 thumping of Eastern Oklahoma State College Thursday night.
The Lady Aggies climbed to 16-3 overall and 6-1 in conference play, as well as back into a tie for the Region 2 lead, and will return home to wrap up the first half of league play on Monday night against Western Oklahoma State. Eastern remained winless at 0-14 for the season.
Freshman stalwart
Mya Cotto poured in 13 first quarter points in sparking a 17-14 Lady Aggie edge through one period before Coach Nate Levine's squad kicked things into high gear.
Arissa Garcia tossed in all seven of her points in a 16-8 second period flurry that extended the lead to 11 points (33-22) at intermission.
It was all Lady Aggies over the final two stanzas as well as they romped to a 14-6 advantage in the third frame and outscored the Lady Mountaineers by a 19-8 count in the fourth to continue pulling away.
Cotto was the lone Murray State player in double figures in tallying 20 points with
Mireia Casas finishing just shy of double digits with nine points. Autuwn Sipes-Louie and
Latai Charles each had strong performances off the bench with eight points apiece, Garcia ended with seven,
Taja Bennett and
Olivia Quapaw each contributed five points as
Jordyn McNeal chipped in four.
