Coach Nate Levine's Murray State Lady Aggies got off to a fast start and ran away in the second half for a 92-54 conference blasting of Northern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa on Thursday night inside Beames Fieldhouse.
The victory was the Lady Aggies' sixth straight as they improved to 13-2 overall and 3-0 in league play. Murray State will be on the road Monday for their next outing at Northern Oklahoma College in Enid.
"We really dialed into the game plan and executed defensively in the second half, which was the difference," Levine stated. "It will continue to be the difference because we feel like we are going to be able to score it most every night out."
Freshman
Jordyn McNeal set the tone early in the paint, pouring in nine of her season-high 22 points in the first stanza while helping stake the hosts to a 25-13 advantage.
Arissa Garcia canned a pair of three pointers and notched eight in the second frame as well, sparking the Lady Aggies to a 44-29 cushion at intermission.
The Lady Aggies kept the throttle down after the break, erupting for 24 points in each of the final two periods to steadily pull away for the emphatic triumph.
McNeal led five players in double figures offensively for Murray State with
Olivia Quapaw next up with 15 points, including three treys.
Ongolea Afu tossed in 14 along with a game-high 15 rebounds,
Mya Cotto added 13 points and Garcia tallied 11.
The Lady Aggies also tallied seven from
Keshanti Gordon,
Taja Bennett and
Latai Charles notched four apiece with
Awtumn Sipes-Louie scoring two in rounding out the total.
