The newly 10
th ranked Murray State Aggie soccer team remained unbeaten with a solid 4-1 conference win over Connors State College in Tishomingo on Wednesday.
Coach Alex Morais' club posted a pair of first half goals and added two more after intermission before a late Cowboy score averted the shutout, but the Aggies moved to 4-0 on the young season.
Ryosuke Miyata punched through the initial score 12 minutes into the contest off an assist from
Shuto Ishikawa. The Aggies added to the lead with just under 20 minutes left in the half when Ishikawa found
Bryan Garcia, who found the back of the Connors net.
Carlos Zapata contributed a third tally in the 59th minutes of the second half after a nice feed from Miyata.
Matias Bauza knocked through the final score unassisted with only 9:37 remaining.
Connors broke the shutout with just 2:28 left for the lone goal allowed by Murray keeper
Francisco Pinochet in five shots on goal.
"Our guys put on a good performance and got a nice win but we know we can't give up a silly goal like we did today," Morais said. "We learned from this and are ready to get ready for our next one."
That outing comes Sunday at 3 p.m. at rival Rose State College, which knocked off the Aggies twice a year ago.
