ALTUS, Okla – Massive offensive numbers were the theme of the day for the Murray State Lady Aggies as they blasted Western State College, 21-2 and 21-6, in a conference twinbill on the road Saturday afternoon.
Coach Aaron Mullens' club smacked seven home runs in the opener and another nine in game two. Sophomore
Shaylin Midgley led that charge with five roundtrippers on the day with
Haili Igou and
Kennedy Lord belting three apiece.
The fifth-ranked Lady Aggies upped their overall record to 32-4 as well as remaining unbeaten in league play at 10-0. They are slated to return home for a non-league doubleheader against Eastern Oklahoma State College on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
It didn't take long for Murray State to set the tone in game one, plating nine runs in the initial inning.
Bradi Harman opened the scoring with a RBI double and Midgley singled to drive in another before seven runs crossed with two outs. Harman's three-run triple capped the early uprising.
Lord's solo homer provided the only scoring in the third with the Lady Aggies having a long ball parade an inning later when Igou and Midgley had solo blasts to go along with
Mattie Richardson's two-run shot to help make it 15-2.
Murray State was far from finished as the visitors notched another six runs in the fifth to finish it off. Midgley and
Morgan Skold each contributed two-run bombs with
Bella Butler adding a solo blast.
Midgley wrapped up with a team-high three hits and four runs batted in as Harman also drove in four by posting a double and triple. Igou and Grey chipped in two hits as well with
Karsyn York, Butler,
Lexi Meadows,
Maliya Chavez,
Kayden Bean,
Gracie Lute, Lord,
Jordan Hayes, Richardson and Skold adding one apiece.
Grey tossed four innings to earn the pitching win, yielding two runs on four hits with four strikeouts and a pair of walks.
Brooklyn Ellis contributed a scoreless frame of relief.
The onslaught continued in game two as Murray State scored in every inning of the run rule verdict. They plated three in the first, five in the second, six in the third and fourth stanzas before finishing things off with a single run in the fifth.
Harman and Midgley got things rolling with first inning blasts with Lord, York and Igou adding to the home run derby one frame later. Lord notched her second of the game to drive in two in the third stanza, Richardson tripled and Midgley knocked in three more runs with another homer.
York and Harman each doubled in runs in the fourth inning ahead of back-to-back bombs from Igou and Midgley. Skold doubled and scored on a Butler RBI single for the final run in the fifth.
Midgley tallied a perfect four for four outing and drove in six. Igou posted three hits and drove in four with Lord also driving in four with her two hits. Harman knocked in three with two hits, York had two hits and a pair of RBI and Lute also chipped in a pair of hits. Meadows,

Dara Hamlin was credited with the pitching victory in two and two-third stanzas of work, allowing four earned runs on five hits and three strikeouts to go along with two walks. Ellis twirled the final two and one-third innings and gave up one hit and fanned one.
