LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Murray State College softball continued to build on its strong tradition as two Lady Aggies earned national recognition for their defensive excellence. Sophomore standouts Bubba Lee and Mercades Lopez were named 2026 NJCAA Division II Rawlings Gold Glove Award winners, as announced by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) this afternoon.

The Rawlings Gold Glove Award is one of the most prestigious defensive honors in junior college softball, recognizing the top fielders at each position across the NJCAA's three divisions. Winners are selected based on fielding statistics, video analysis, and voting by NFCA committees, highlighting not only consistency but elite-level play throughout the season.

Murray State College was one of just a handful of programs nationally to produce multiple Gold Glove recipients in 2026, joining Northeast Alabama Community College, Copiah-Lincoln Community College, and Patrick and Henry Community College in that distinction.

Lee anchored the hot corner at third base, showcasing exceptional range, quick reaction time, and a powerful arm that consistently shut down opposing offenses. Her ability to make difficult plays look routine made her one of the premier defensive players in the region and across the country. Lee sported a .936 fielding percentage, while also having a phenomenal season at the plate. She hit .331 with 74 RBIs, and 21 home runs. Her Gold Glove solidifies her reputation as one of the top corner infielders in NJCAA Division II.

Lopez, patrolling shortstop, proved to be the backbone of the Lady Aggies' infield. Known for her smooth glove work, strong instincts, and leadership on the field, she played a critical role in limiting any threat the opposing offense posed. Lopez also had a tremendous season at the dish. She hit .391 with 61 RBIs, and 66 runs scored. Her Gold Glove honor solidifies her reputation as one of the top middle infielders in NJCAA Division II.

Across all divisions, only 27 student-athletes received the award, with nine honorees per division. The recognition of both Lee and Lopez not only celebrates their individual achievements but also reinforces Murray State's standing among the elite programs in junior college softball.
