Murray women bounce back with road victory

Olivia Quapaw pumped in 13 points to help ignite a 23-point final period as Murray State broke open a tight game for a 69-54 road win against the Southwestern Christian Junior Varsity Thursday night in Bethany.

The game was knotted at 16-16 through one stanza before Lady Aggies snagged a halftime edge at 33-25. The hosts however narrowed the gap to just 46-41 head into the fourth ahead of the final surge by Murray State, which was playing on the road for the second straight night.

Quapaw, who had only four points prior to the final barrage, ended with a team-leading 17. Tierra Williams also reached double figures with 10 points, sinking a pair of three pointers.

Sosefina Langi and Hannah Pinney tallied nine apiece, Khalayah Willis canned two treys on the way to seven points, Mireia Casas and Cristina Laudan both tossed in five, Ongolea Afu scored four and Arissa Garcia notched three.

Now 8-2 on the season, the Lady Aggies return home Saturday with a chance to avenge one of their losses, facing Grayson County College at 2 p.m. inside Beames Fieldhouse.
