Despite snagging a first quarter lead, the Murray State Lady Aggies found the road tough going on Wednesday night, dropping a 68-55 decision at second-ranked Collin County College in Plano, Texas.
Coach Nate Levine's crew jumped out to a 16-13 advantage through one stanza but cold shooting from beyond the three-point arc allowed the Lady Cougars to surge in front as Murray State missed all 13 tries from long range in the middle two periods. For the game, the Lady Aggies ended just four for 22 on treys (18 percent).
Collin County surged in front 34-26 at intermission and carried a 47-39 cushion to the fourth when the hosts added another 21 points for the final margin as the Lady Cougars improved to 11-0 on the year.
A pair of Lady Aggies reached double figures with
Ongolea Afu tossing in 15 points while
Sosefina Langi added 11.
Arissa Garcia and
Olivia Quapaw each notched seven,
Tierra Williams and
Mireia Casas had six apiece with
Hannah Pinney rounding out the scoring with three points.
The loss snapped a three-game Murray State winning streak, but the Lady Aggies will have a quick chance to get back on track Thursday night with a road game at Southwestern Christian University's junior varsity in Bethany.
