Sporting their first home game since November 7, Coach Nate Levine's Murray State Lady Aggies scored the first eight points of the contest and never looked back on Saturday afternoon to breeze past the University of Arkansas-Cossatot, 93-52, inside Beames Fieldhouse.
The Lady Aggies built a commanding 19-4 advantage through one quarter and steadily increased that margin throughout for their largest scoring output of the season that improved their record to 7-1 on the year. Murray State will have another tough road test in their next outing at Collin County College for a 5 p.m. Wednesday tipoff.
Murray State added to the early flurry with a massive 34-point second stanza fueled by six three pointers.
Tierra Williams and
Mireia Casas each had two of the long-range bombs as eight different Lady Aggies all contributed in the scoring column in the explosion. It was a 72-40 cushion after three periods as the hosts continued to pull away.
For the game Murray State sank 13 treys as well as controlling the glass for a rebounding edge as well.
Olivia Quapaw and
Ongolea Afu once again lead the Lady Aggie offensive charge with 17 points apiece. Williams canned four treys while pitching in a season-high 16 points.
Khalayah Willis also posted a season-best effort with 12 points, scoring all of her points on four three pointers.
Casas narrowly missed being a fifth Murray State scorer in double digits, finishing with nine points on three treys.
Hannah Pinney scored six,
Sosefina Langi had five,
Eva Serra scored four and
Cristina Laudan ended with three points.
