HOT SPRINGS, Ark – National Park College was the last team to score any runs on second-ranked Murray State in a 3-2 Lady Aggie victory back on April 8. Since that time the Lady Aggies' pitching staff has kicked into high gear with eight straight shutouts.
Make that 10 straight shutouts following a pair of dominant blankings of the same National Park squad on the road Thursday, upping their current win streak to 25 while improving to 45-1 overall and a perfect 22-0 in league play.
The Lady Aggies cruised to a 9-0 triumph in game one riding a one-hit shutout from
Bradi Harman and then followed with a 15-0 romp in the second contest as
Isabella Hardeman and
Carolyn Overton combined on a two-hit shutout.
After not scoring in the first inning, Murray State got on the board with a
Kaylee Carter solo home run to start the second. They added another in the third after a walk and Harman double.
Murray State's offense broke it wide open one frame later, plating six runs as they sent nine hitters to the plate.
Kennedy Lord and
Avery Beauchamp opened with singles with
Haili Igou and Harman contributing back-to-back doubles. Carter's two-run homer capped the flurry.
Lord and Beauchamp chipped in fifth inning singles to spur another run-scoring frame that finished it off.
Beauchamp had three hits to lead the offensive charge with Carter contributing two homers and four batted in and Harman notching two doubles and two RBI. Lord also tallied two hits with one apiece from
Brylee Fanning and Igou.
Harman struck out nine and walked a pair in the complete game pitching performance.
The Lady Aggie offense scored early and often in the game two shellacking as they pushed across four runs in the first, second and fourth frames while pitching in three in the third stanzas.
Fanning, Harman and Igou all homered to key the 14-hit assault. Harman notched three hits with four driven in while Fanning also added three hits and knocked in three.
Igou contributed a pair of hits and four RBI with
Cady Ammons tossing in two hits and one batted while
Ryann Phillips chipped in two hits and scored three times. Carter and Adison "Bubba" Lee had one hit apiece.
Hardeman fired four innings, yielding one hit with six strikeouts. Overton tossed one frame and allowed one hit and fanned one.
The Lady Aggies are slated to host the University of Arkansas Rich Mountain for a doubleheader Saturday at 1 p.m. for their next outing.
