Murray State Sports Information
Second-ranked Murray State ran its softball winning streak to 19 and shutout string to four with a pair of blankings of Western Oklahoma State College in conference action Monday in Tishomingo.
The Lady Aggies cruised to a 7-0 opening game triumph behind a one-hit complete game from
Bradi Harman and then picked up a two-hit complete game shutout from
Isabella Hardeman in the 12-0 game two run rule.
Coach Aaron Mullens' squad improved to 39-1 on the season and 16-0 in Region 2 play with a doubleheader at Carl Albert State College Thursday next on the schedule.
It took a while for the Lady Aggie offense to get rolling, plating their first run on a
Brylee Fanning homer in the third inning. They added two more one frame later as
Kaylee Carter blasted a leadoff homer and
Kennedy Lord doubled and came across on an
Avery Beauchamp sacrifice fly.
Murray State held the 3-0 edge until the sixth when four more runs put it away.
Cady Ammons was hit by a pitch and Carter doubled in front of an Adison "Bubba" Lee blast over the leftfield wall. Lord added a solo bomb one batter later for the final tally.
Fanning, Carter and Lord all tallied two hits with one each from
Haili Igou and Lee.
Harman recorded 15 of the 21 outs on strikeouts in the pitching masterpiece.
The Lady Aggies jumped out to a 2-0 first inning lead in the nightcap, once again riding the long ball with an Ammons' two-run blast.
Ryann Phillips opened a five-run third frame with another home run before Murray State finally scored its first run of the day on something other than a long ball when Fanning scored on a wild pitch. Carter and Lee chipped in run-scoring singles en route to a 7-0 edge.
Five more tallies in the fourth helped end it early on the run rule. Phillips and Fanning slapped singles and both scored on an Igou double. Harman drove in another with a single, Lee doubled and Beauchamp knocked in the final run with a single.
Murray State wrapped up with 11 hits as all but one player in the starting lineup had a hit. Igou, Lee and Phillips posted two apiece with Fanning, Harman, Ammons, Carter and Beauchamp all contributing one.
Hardeman fanned six and didn't walk a batter in five stellar innings in the circle.
