Isabella Hardeman and
Bradi Harman each fired dominant shutouts and second-rated Murray State cruised by University of Arkansas Rich Mountain for a conference sweep on Thursday afternoon.
Murray State cruised to 8-0 and 9-0 triumphs as the Lady Aggies climbed to 37-1 on the season and 14-0 in league action, while their current winning streak increased to 17. Next up for Coach Aaron Mullens' troops in a 2 p.m. home twinbill with Western Oklahoma State College on Monday.
Hardeman was in command through five innings of the opener, yielding only one hit with a pair of strikeouts as DrewAnne White finished it off with one no-hit frame of relief, fanning two as well.
Murray State's offense tallied at least one run in all but one stanza of the six-inning run rule.
They scored single runs in the opening two frames, cashing in a
Cady Ammons RBI double as well as Adison "Bubba" Lee's solo homer. A four-run third broke it wide open as
Haili Igou belted a two-run blast and Harman followed with a solo homer to highlight the outburst.
Brylee Fanning chipped a solo home run in the fourth and Harman notched the final RBI on a fielder's choice in the sixth inning.
Fanning, Igou and Ammons each posted two hits in the Lady Aggie victory with one apiece by Harman, Lee and
Ryann Phillips.
The Lady Aggies scored in only two innings of the second game, but each of those were multi-run explosions. The first four came in the third inning fueled by Ammons' three-run homer along with a
Kaylee Carter solo blast. Five more one frame later put on the finishing touches as the key blows were an Igou two-run double as well as Harman's run-scoring double.
Harman went the distance in the pitching circle, yielding two singles with nine strikeouts and one walk in five innings.
Kennedy Lord was the lone Murray State batter with multiple hits at two. Fanning, Igou, Harman, Ammons, Carter and Phillips contributed one apiece.
