Murray State Sports Information

The Murray State Aggie offense combined for a whopping 25 runs in the first three innings of each contest and ran away from visiting University of Arkansas Rich Mountain in dominant fashion on Thursday at The Ranch.

Coach Sam Bjorling's squad rolled to a 16-1 win in the opener and 13-3 in the nightcap to up its record to 27-13 overall and 11-3 in conference play. The Aggies have now won eight straight with a return trip to Rich Mountain on Saturday at 1 p.m. to wrap up the league series.

The barrage started right out of the gate as the Aggies led 4-0 just four batters into the contest. Junho Son singled, Austin Haley doubled and Michael Barham plated the first on a single. Brady Taylor followed by clearing the bases with a three-run blast over the rightfield wall. Tanner Norman also homered two batters later to cap the opening five-run burst.

Murray State racked up five more runs quickly in the second inning sparked by a Haley home run as well as four singles and a pair of free passes. They impressively pushed across another five runs in the third stanza for a commanding 15-1 advantage thanks to four singles combined with four free passes.

Staff ace Cash Kuiper twirled four innings for the pitching win, yielding one run on four hits while striking out five and walking one. Hank Brown chipped in a scoreless frame of relief.

All but one player in the starting lineup for Murray State had a hit with Haley's three for three performance pacing the attack. Barham, Taylor, Zach Makarewich, Norman and Marlon Moore each contributed two hits.

While they didn't quite up the same scoring arsenal in game two, it wasn't far behind as they roughed up the Bucks' pitching in a big way.

Barham's double was the key blow in a two-run opening frame and the hosts broke it wide open with five more in the second inning fueled by Taylor's three-run homer.  Son homered as well to key a three-run third which pushed the edge to 10-0.

Tayte Dome earned the pitching victory as he worked five and two-third stanzas while allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits, seven strikeouts and five walks. Caden Allen yielded one run in two and a third frames of one-hit relief. He also fanned one.

The Lady Aggies managed 11 hits for the game topped by Haley's three along with two RBI. Son chipped in two hits and drove in three while Taylor had one hit and four batted in. Barham, Brennan Morgan, Makarewich, Norman and Kaden Monderud also had hits.
