Coach Aaron Mullens' Murray State Lady Aggies ran their winning streak to 13 with a pair of run rule shutouts of visiting Northern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa on Tuesday.
The Lady Aggies rolled to an 8-0 verdict in the opener and then blitzed the Lady Mavs 15-0 in game two as they improved their record to 33-1. Murray State remains home for its next conference outing on Sunday with a 2 p.m. twinbill against Western Oklahoma State College.
Isabella Hardeman fired a gem in the opening contest, allowing just one hit while recording 13 of the 15 outs in the five-inning affair via strikeout.
Murray State strung together four runs in the second stanza and four in the fifth to put it away early on the run rule.
Cady Ammons and Adison "Bubba" Lee doubled in the early uprising while
Kennedy Lord also belted a three-run homer over the leftfield fence.
The final inning barrage was spurred by four straight singles by
Brylee Fanning,
Haili Igou,
Bradi Harman and Ammons with Lee wrapping it up with a double.
Ammons tallied three hits in the 12-hit Murray State barrage. Fanning, Igou and Lee all added two hits apiece with one each coming from Harman, Carter and Lord.
The Lady Aggies showcased even more firepower in the second contest, pushing across nine runs in the first inning alone as they sent 14 batters to the plate. Harman had two of the hits, including a double, while
Kaylee Carter also chipped in a double to the cause.
Murray State tacked on four more in the second frame, keyed by back-to-back doubles from Fanning and Igou. Two tallies in the fourth wrapped up the offensive onslaught with
Ryley Severson doubling home two.
The 17-hit offensive charge was topped by Harman, who went three for three and drove in three runs. Fanning, Igou and Lord each posted two hits with Severson, Ammons, Carter, Lee,
Avery Beauchamp,
Karsyn Nye and
Brynn Surmont all had one hit.
Harman made the start in the pitching circle and fired a stellar one-hitter that included 10 strikeouts and two walks.
