FARMERS BRANCH, Texas – Offense was in abundance Monday afternoon as the Murray State baseball team went on the road to record a 17-6 victory over Dallas College-Brookhaven.
The Aggies pounded out 15 hits in the contest that was shortened to eight innings due to the run rule, six of which went for doubles.
Murray State ran its record to 14-8 on the season and travels to South Arkansas Community College for their final non-conference series of the season starting on Friday at 1 p.m.
Coach
Sam Bjorling's squad wasted little time in plating a pair of runs in the top of the first inning thanks to a pair of doubles from Juhno Son and
Austin Haley.
Brady Taylor also contributed a single run with a two-out single to right.
After the host Bears cut the lead in half in the bottom of the frame, the Aggies responded with a three-run flurry in the second as Son drove in a pair of those with a single.
Murray State erupted for six runs in the fourth stanza to flurry put the contest away as the first seven Aggie batters all reached base.
Michael Barham knocked in the first two tallies with a single while
Brennan Morgan and
Tanner Norman also drove in two each with doubles.
The Aggies were far from done offensively however as Son tallied another RBI with a hit in the sixth. A two-run seventh was ignited by an
Austin Haley double and the key blow in the eighth stanza was another two-run double from Norman, who finished with five runs batted in.
Haley provided four hits and scored three times, Son and Morgan each had three hits and drove in three apiece. Norman and Taylor posted two hits each with Barham adding the final hit.
Six Aggies saw pitching action with
Caden Allen making the mound start and working three innings in which he allowed a single run on two hits and fanned four.
