Third-ranked Murray State blasted four home runs in an opening romp and then utilized late dramatics in the nightcap for a twinbill sweep of NJCAA Division 1's 22nd ranked Hutchinson Community College on Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Aggies were 14-0 victors in game one and then got a walk off 5-4 win on a Haili Igou ninth-inning single to remain unbeaten at 14-0 on the season. The Blue Dragons slipped to 3-3 on the year.

Murray State continues the homestand on Sunday with a noon doubleheader against Northeast Community College from Nebraska.

"We were complacent to begin the day," head coach Aaron Mullens said. "It started two hours before the game started. We were not mentally prepared to play today. In game 2, we got complacent after taking an early 4-0 lead. We stopped competing offensively with urgency, left too many runners on base and made some baserunning mistakes that cost us.

"Tip your hat to Hutchinson for continuing to fight and claw their way back into the game. Alanna (Routt), DrewAnn (White) and Ava (Boozer) showed a lot of guts today in the circle and I was very proud of their performance today. Hopefully we continue to learn that the process of winning is in the small details."

Playing a bit shorthanded, the Lady Aggies wasted little time in taking command in the initial contest, plating five runs in the opening inning with Kennedy Lord providing the key blow on a two-out grand slam over the leftfield fence.

Cady Ammons added a two-run blast one frame later  with a pair of two-run homers from Brighton O'Connor and Adison "Bubba" Lee highlighting a seven-run outburst in the third stanza.

Routt and Boozer were spectacular in the pitching circle as they combined on a one-hit shutout that included a pair of strikeouts and no walks.

Ammons fueled the offense with the home run and a double, driving in five. Lord had two hits with four RBI as Lee also chipped in two hits and knocked in three. O'Connor and Brynn Surmont tossed in one hit apiece.

The Lady Aggies built a 4-0 edge through three innings and appeared on the way to another convincing victory before the scoring dried up.

Ammons doubled home Igou with the first tally and Karsyn Nye added a two-run homer in the second frame. Ammons and Lee had singles in the third stanza to spur the fourth Murray State run.

Hutchinson came alive with three runs in the sixth, cashing in three hits and a walk, as well as a solo tally in the seventh that forced extra innings.

Boozer however came on relief to slam the door on the Blue Dragons in the eighth and ninth innings, allowing the hosts to rally for the win in the bottom of the ninth.

Surmont was hit by a pitch and Nye and Brylee Fanning singled to load the bases. That set the stage for Igou, who delivered the first pitch into rightfield to cap the win.

Murray State racked up 10 hits led by Ammons' three that helped provide one RBI. Igou, Lee and Nye all had two hits as Fanning finished with one.

Boozer was credited with the pitching win, scattering three hits with one strikeout in two frames of relief. Routt fired three frames and White also pitched in three shutout frames. Overton yielded three runs on three hits in her one inning of work out of the bullpen.
