Murray State Sports Information

Sophomore Austin Haley blasted three home runs to power the Murray State baseball team to a 10-3 win over Northeast Texas Community College on Monday at The Ranch to extend their win streak to six in a row.

The Aggies broke a 1-1 deadlock in the third inning, plating four runs of nine straight unanswered tallies, and never looked back in the nine-inning affair to improve their record to 9-4 on the season. Coach Sam Bjorling's club is slated to remain in Tishomingo for a three-game set with Arkansas State University-Three Rivers starting at 4 p.m. Friday.

Haley got things off to a good start, setting the tone for his monster day with a solo homer with two outs in the opening stanza.

Northeast rallied to tie the score with a run in the third but the Aggies had the answer as the red-hot Haley came to the plate in the bottom of the stanza and drilled a two-run home run to left. Three pitchers later Michael Barham followed with a solo blast to centerfield with Brennan Morgan doubling and scoring the fourth tally on Tanner Norman's sacrifice fly.

Murray State was back on the board in the fifth after Haley slammed his third straight roundtripper while leading off the frame.

Four more runs in the sixth virtually put the contest on ice as the Aggies cruised home from there as they cashed in four walks and singles from Marlon Moore and Brady Taylor.

Five Murray State hurler combined in the pitching effort, scattering six hits in nine innings while striking out 13 and walking eight.

Carson Culbreath got things started by tossing three stanzas, yielding one run on two hits with four strikeouts. Jakob Holzer tossed in two scoreless frames as he yielded just one hits and fanned three. Conner Smeltzer also notched a pair of innings, allowing two runs on two hits with a pair of strikeouts as well. Kyndon Lovell and Tayte Dome contributed one scoreless inning apiece with each also fanning two hitters.

Haley ended with four runs and five RBI along with his three blasts that left the park. Barham, Taylor and Morgan contributed two hits apiece. Junho Son, Moore and Cason Johnson each added one.
