Following a stellar pitching performance in the opener, Murray State rode a season-high 24-run offensive barrage to a baseball sweep of Dawson Community College on a cold Wednesday afternoon at The Ranch.

The Aggies claimed game one 5-1 before smashing the visiting Bucs, 24-4, in the second contest to complete the four-game series domination and improve their record to 7-4 on the year. Murray State visits Hill College Saturday at 1 p.m. for its next outing.

Sophomore southpaw Kyndon Lovell was sensational in the opening game start, breezing through five innings with a scoreless no-hitter intact, striking out three and walking two. Heath Graf chipped in two stanzas of relief, yielding one unearned run on two hits while also fanning four batters.

Murray State plated a pair of runs in the first inning, which proved to be all it would need as the Aggies strung together singles by Junho Son, Austin Haley and Brady Taylor.

Coach Sam Bjorling's club tacked on three more tallies in the fourth frame, sparked by a leadoff double off the bat of Brennan Morgan. Jacob Knox, Son and Haley all added singles as the hosts took advantage of two Buc errors.

The Aggies pounded out 10 hits, speared by two apiece from Son, Haley and Taylor. Marlon Moore, Morgan, Knox and Brady Richardson chipped in one hit each.

Murray State put up another two-run first in game two, cashing in singles by Son and Michael Barham coupled with a walk and Dawson miscue. One frame later it was all but over.

Twenty batters went to the plate in a marathon second frame that saw the Aggies push 16 runs across the plate. There were nine hits in the stanza with the only one going for extra bases coming from Barham, who smoked a two-run double for one of his two hits in the inning.

The Aggies added four more runs in the third and two in the four, spurred by doubles by Richardson and Norman.

Tayte Dome fired three scoreless, no-hit frames for the pitching win, striking out six of the nine batters he faced. Bryson Kelley contributed two innings of relief, scattering four runs and three hits. He also fanned four.

Norman pounded out a perfect four for four outing at the plate, driving in six runs in the process. Barham also knocked in four runs on his three Aggie hits.

Son, Richardson, Haley, Jackson Franks, Nick Vickery, Taylor, Cason Johnson, Morgan and Grayson Doggett all posted one hit.
