Murray State Sports Information
Coming off their first conference loss earlier in the week, Murray State bounced back on Thursday night with a rugged 83-67 win over visiting Northern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa.
The Aggies broke open a tight game in the second half spurred by 14 points from
Bol Agu and 11 by
Rustin Coffey as they turned back the Maverick charge after leading only 37-36 at halftime.
"It was good to get a win, but I still don't feel like we are hitting on all cylinders," head coach Josh Davis said. "We have to get these guys playing with the confidence and aggressiveness we did early in the season because this league is going to be a dogfight nearly every night."
Freshman
Brandon Ivery was the first half catalyst for Murray State, pumping in 11 points before intermission but the Aggies suffered through a few defensive breakdowns, which they fortunately solved after the break.
Four Aggies posted double figures with balance at the top as Agu tossed in 20 points, Ivery had 19 and Coffey checked in with 18.
Abeeng Agot also came off the bench with 12.
Murray State also picked up seven from
Elijah Tshibangu, five by
RJ Chatman and two from
Chanon Frye.
Now 13-3 on the season and 2-1 in league play, the Aggies will be back on the road Monday at Northern Oklahoma College in Enid.
