Region 2 Honors Highlight Aggies’ Championship Season

MSC Men’s Basketball receives Region 2 Honors

SEMINOLE, Okla. — The 2025–26 season proved to be a historic one for the Murray State College men's basketball team, highlighted by a Region 2 regular season title and multiple individual honors.
 
Leading the way was head coach Josh Davis, who was named Region 2 Co-Coach of the Year after guiding the Aggies to a Region 2 Regular Season title. Murray State finished the year with an impressive 22-9 overall record and an 11-5 mark in conference play. The Aggies' success was fueled by standout performances from several key players.
 
Haki Muhammad II earned All-Region honors. Muhammad was dominant throughout the season, leading the team by averaging 19.2 points per game. He also contributed 67 three-pointers while shooting 37% from beyond the arc and an efficient 81.3% from the free-throw line. His ability to score at all three levels made him one of the most dangerous offensive players in Region 2.
 
Ashton Smith played a crucial role in the Aggies' championship run, earning All-Region Honorable Mention recognition. The sophomore guard averaged 13.7 points per game while adding 63 assists and 36 steals on the season. Smith's all-around play and leadership at the point guard position helped keep Murray State's offense balanced and efficient throughout the year.
 
Abeeng Agot was the best two-way player for the Aggies, earning him All-Region Honorable Mention honors. Agot averaged 12.7 points and 5.7 rebounds per game while shooting an impressive 56.5% from the field. He also anchored the defense with 40 steals and a team-best 56 blocks, providing a strong interior presence on both ends of the floor.
