SPARTANBURG, SC – Freshman
Bradi Harman posted four hits and drove in five while finishing just a double away from the cycle to propel Murray State to a 6-2 upset of second-ranked Copiah-Lincoln in an NJCAA Division II Softball World Series elimination game on Friday.
The Lady Aggies (60-6), who earlier in the morning completed their Thursday night contest, will look to advance to the national championship round on Saturday in a final elimination bout with Kirkwood, Iowa at 3 p.m. Central Time on Friday.
Copiah-Lincoln took a 2-0 advantage after two innings but was silenced the rest of the way by a stellar pitching performance from
Brooklyn Ellis. Making her first World Series appearance, the freshman was dazzling in the circle while yielding two unearned runs on three hits while striking out four and walking three in seven innings.
Harman knotted the score in the third by plating a pair of runs with a triple to rightfield. Two innings later
Haili Igou led off with a double and raced home with the go-ahead tally on a Harman single.
Shaylin Midgley also singled before
Emily Rogers tacked on another run with a sacrifice fly.
Murray State added another pair for insurance in the sixth inning on a Harman two-run blast over the leftfield fence.
Igou, Midgley and
Lexi Meadows tossed in one hit apiece for the Lady Aggies.
