Coach Aaron Mullens' Murray State Lady Aggies plated runs in nine of 10 innings on Wednesday en route to a pair of run rule victories over visiting North Arkansas College.
The Lady Aggies rolled to a 10-2 victory in the opener and then finished things off with a 9-1 triumph to improve to 47-5 on the season while upping their conference record to a perfect 24-0. They'll remain home for a regular season closing four-game set with Arkansas State University Mountain Home on Friday and Saturday.
In the Wednesday opener, Murray State held a slim 1-0 edge through two innings before erupting for five tallies to add plenty of cushion.
Kennedy Lord and
Bradi Harman singled ahead of a two-out double from Bree Butler that ended up plating three runs.
Ultimately, the Lady Aggies made the most of eight hits as Harman and
Lexi Meadows each notched a pair. Butler tossed in a hit and three RBI with Lord,
Haili Igou and
Mattie Richardson also chipping in one hit apiece.
Dara Hamlin tossed five stellar innings for the pitching win, yielding two runs on three hits with five strikeouts and three walks.
The finale was more of the same with two runs in the first, three in the second, one in the third, two in the fourth and one in the fifth to end it early.
Igou blasted a home run and drove in two to pace the attack with Lord and
Courtney Grey each posting two hits and a pair of RBI. Meadows also ended with two hits.
Karsyn York, Harman,
Shaylin Midgley, Butler and Richardson tallied one hit each with a total of 12.
Harman made her longest pitching stint of the season with three and one-third stanzas for the victory, allowing one run on two hits in addition to five strikeouts and three walks. Grey also twirled one and two-third frames of scoreless two-hit ball.
