Home turf at The Ranch continued to be kind for the Murray State Aggies as they snapped a four-game conference skid with a 5-3 triumph over Northern Oklahoma College Enid.
The Aggies evened their overall record at 21-21 moved to 6-15 in league play with another doubleheader with Jets slated for Friday at 1 p.m. in Tishomingo. NOC-Enid slipped to 31-16 and 15-7 in conference action.
Murray State spotted the visitors a 2-0 first inning edge before cutting the margin in half with a tally in the second on an
Ethan Rone solo home run.
NOC-Enid pushed the lead to 3-1 in the fourth when the Aggies surged back with a pair to tie the contest with a two-out flurry.
Trace Necessary and
Brennan Morgan sandwiched singles around a walk to load the bases with back-to-back free passes to
Ty Chaddrick and
Andrew Tinsley forcing in runs.
Coach
Sam Bjorling's club grabbed the lead for good in the fifth on an
Austin Haley leadoff homer over the leftfield wall. Tinsley doubled and scored on a
Wilbert Espinal single one frame later for the final run of the game.
Brody Roe worked six strong innings on the mound, yielding three runs (one earned) on five hits with eight strikeouts and two walks.
Kaleb Melvin twirled two scoreless stanzas of perfect relief and
Nathan Darden fired the final inning to pick up the save.
Rone posted two hits with one apiece by Tinsley, Espinal, Haley, Necessary, Morgan and Chaddrick.
