Aggies scorch nets to fuel Loyalty Prep win

Nine second half three pointers helped Murray State explode for 52 points after the break and the Aggies easily cruised past Loyalty College Prep, 88-41, Monday night at Beames Fieldhouse to close a five-game homestand.

The Aggies, which upped their record to 5-2, will be on the road for five straight contests beginning Wednesday at Dallas College-Mountain View.

It was fairly even much of the opening half, with Murray State eventually grabbing a 36-24 advantage at the break. The second half was a completely different story as the Aggies caught fire from outside while putting the clamps on the visitors as well, yielding only 17 points over the final 20 minutes.

Brandon Ivery was the catalyst of a balanced offensive charge with 24 points, 13 of which came after intermission. Rustin Coffey had the hot hand for the Aggies in the second half, pumping in 16 on the strength of four treys, finishing with a career-best 20 points.

RJ Chatman nailed a couple of three pointers on the way to 10 points. Abeeng Agot was just off double figures with nine, Ignas Juskevicius added seven with Keylon Shields and Elijah Tshibangu contributing five points apiece. Chanon Frye and Isaac Jones got in on the scoring as well with four apiece.
