Murray facing Highland in District Tourney opener

Pairings are set for this week's NJCAA Division II Plains A District Softball Tournament at Majestic Park in Hot Springs, Arkansas with top-ranked Murray State the number one seed.

The Lady Aggies, who ride in with a 53-0 record, will face off against Highland Community College at Noon on Thursday in the four-team double elimination tournament. The Highland Lady Scots from Kansas enter the event with a 26-19 overall mark.

Rounding out the bracket are 13th ranked Johnson County, Kansas, which sports a 32-6 record on the year, facing 24-18 Labette Community College in a 2 p.m. opening round contest.

First round losers will play an elimination game at 4 p.m. and the victors will face off at 6 o'clock for a berth in the district tournament title game.

Friday's games will then determine who advances to the NJCAA Division II World Series in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
