A seven-run fourth inning explosion in a tight first game and opened the floodgates for Murray State Saturday afternoon as the top-ranked Lady Aggies blasted their wa yto a doubleheader sweep of National Park College.

Coach Aaron Mullens' squad ran their record to a perfect 38-0 with a pair of 10-2 wins as they wrapped up a 6-0 week in conference play. The Lady Aggies will have a week off before going back on the road with a weekend in Arkansas where they will face both Southern Arkansas Tech and National Park to conclude those season series.

Murray State was nursing a slim 1-0 edge in the opener before sending 10 hitters to the plate in the fourth to take complete command. Three straight doubles from Emma Damato, Chesnie Hewitt and K.J. Pitching stalwart Alexa Hopkins cruised the rest of the way from there for the six-inning complete game six-hitter in which she allowed no earned runs and struck out three.

Shallen Mershon and Abby Beck put the finishing touches on the run rule triumph in the sixth as they belted back-to-back solo home runs to walk it off. Hewitt, Mershon, Tuck and Jadyn Hook all had two hits to spur the 12-hit Lady Aggie assault. Morgan, Beck, Damato and Brylea Russell tallied one hit apiece.

Morgan and Mershon each homered and drove in four runs apiece in the second game as they played a key role in staking Murray State to a 7-0 lead through two stanzas. Mershon's two-run home run provided the offense for a quick 2-0 advantage while Morgan's grand slam was the highlight of a five-run second frame.

Murray State tacked on a single run in the fourth and ended things with three tallies in the sixth as Mershon and Beck connected on consecutive run-scoring doubles.

Ileana Lucio was the pitching benefactor, tossing four innings in which she yielded one run on two hits and fanned three for the victory. Hopkins scattered five hits over two frames of relief.

Morgan finished with three of the Murray State 10 hits in the contest with Mershon adding two. Beck, Tuck, Russell, Hook and Damato accounted for one each.
