Freddie Cooper's bucket with six seconds left put Murray State in front and T.J. Gardner's steal with 2.7 seconds remaining sealed another late-game dramatic 83-82 Aggie win at Redlands Community College Thursday night.
The Murray State men continued their flair for late game dramatics by rallying with a 45-point eruption in the second half as Cooper and freshman
Tarrance Austin proved to be a two-man wrecking crew against the Cougars. The duo combined for 34 points over the final 20 minutes, getting key basket after key basket down the stretch after the pair managed only six total points before intermission.
Kameron Johnson was the first half catalyst for the Aggies, leading the way with nine points to keep Murray within striking distance down just 41-38.
Cooper really caught fire in the second half, connecting for four three-pointers in the Aggie charge as he notched 23 of his game-high 27 points following the break. Austin also chipped in 11 in the second half to tally a season-high 13 points.
Johnson tossed in nine,
Cordrayius Graham had eight, Gardner and
Kyle Tolbert had seven each, K.J. Boone and
Jackson Lawley both scored four while
Ridley Shema and
Jaelen Tucker wrapped up the scoring with two apiece.
The Aggies will be back at Beames Fieldhouse Saturday for a 4 p.m. matchup against Northern Oklahoma College-Enid.
