Despite racing to a 2-0 lead, the Murray State Aggie men's soccer team saw its unbeaten postseason run snapped on Monday with a 4-2 loss to seventh seeded Tyler Junior College in NJCAA national tournament action at Wichita, Kansas.

The Aggies fall to 14-5-1 on the year and 1-1 in tournament pool play, but remain alive for a chance at the tournament semifinals pending the outcome of a Tyler-Eastern Florida State matchup scheduled for Tuesday afternoon. Tyler improved its record to 16-2-1.

Coach John Connor's club scored on its first two opportunities off penalty kicks but managed only four shots on goal the remainder of the contest against the Apaches, who had yielded only nine total goals on the season going into the national tournament.

Joel Green punched through the first goal 13 minutes and 29 seconds into the game with a penalty kick blast by the Tyler goalkeeper.

Lucas Peruzo duplicated that effort with a penalty kick score of his own eight minutes later that made it a 2-0 Aggie advantage.

In spite of the deficit, Tyler controlled the possession in its offensive end much of the half, cutting the margin in half on a Hagan Cupido goal with 15 minutes left before intermission. That proved to be the score at halftime.

The Apaches wasted little time after the break, scoring a tying goal in less than two minutes on Cupido's second score of the day off an Ato Smith Jr. assist. Smith's header into the net off a corner kick with 30 minutes remaining gave Tyler the lead for good.

Murray State managed just three shots on goal, two of which came from Bryan Garcia, the rest of the way against the stingy Apache defense.
