Cold first half dooms Aggies in loss to Paris

Box Score By Kevin Farr
Murray State Sports Information

A cold shooting start dug Murray State a big first half hole from which the Aggies could never fully recover in a 71-66 loss to Paris Junior College in non-conference basketball action Saturday at Beames Fieldhouse.

Paris sizzled the nets for six three-pointers in the opening 20 minutes to build a 38-26 edge before intermission.

The Aggies managed to find their touch more after the break, spurred by two Isaiah Lewis treys as the freshman poured in team-high 15 points in the second half. Ignas Juskevicius also tallied all 10 of his points after the break but the hosts could never get any closer than five points down the stretch thanks to solid free throw shooting by the Dragons.

Lewis led four players in double figures for the Aggies with 19 points. Tarrance Austin tallied 12 in addition to Ezekiel Williamsonbey and Juskevicius with 10. Emery Eberhard finished with six, Jackson Lawley scored five and R.J. Chatman had four.

The Aggies fell to 2-3 on the season and will be back home on Thursday for a 7 p.m. contest with Ranger Junior College.
