8th ranked Aggies stifle Rich Mountain, 3-0

MENA, Ark. – A pair of late second half goals broke open a tight contest and propelled the eighth-ranked Murray State Aggies to a 3-0 conference win over University of Arkansas Rich Mountain on the road Wednesday.

Coach Alex Morais' squad remained unbeaten at 6-0 overall and 4-0 in league play and will return home Sunday for a 3 p.m. showdown with Eastern Oklahoma State College.

The Aggies opened the scoring on Wednesday when Alexis Lopez found the back of the net off a Ryosuke Miyata assist just 11 minutes and 47 seconds into the contest.

That proved to be the lone goal of the first half as Murray State carried the 1-0 edge into halftime and most of the second half before adding another score in the game's 82^nd minute. Leo Aquino picked up his first of two assists in setting up the Philipp Federer score.

The Aggies finished off the scoring in the final minute of the contest when Felipe Alcantara punched it through off the Aquino pass.

Iker Arriola played a clean game in goal with strong play by the Murray State defense, which turned back the few Rich Mountain offensive opportunities without even needing a save or yielding a shot on goal.

"I was pleased with another solid performance," head coach Alex Morais said. "Rich Mountain was an organized team defensively and gave us a good battle. Now we need to focus on our recovery as Sunday will be a big one at our place."
