TISHOMINGO, Okla. - Murray State College men's soccer picked up a thrilling 2-1 victory over Eastern Oklahoma State College on Wednesday, earning the first win of the season and the first victory for head coach, Chris Spear, at Murray State College.
 
Eastern Oklahoma State struck early in the first half, taking a 1-0 lead and putting the Aggies in an early hole. Murray State battled throughout the remainder of the half and into the second half, continuing to create opportunities while looking for the equalizer.
 
The Aggies finally broke through in the 76th minute when James Owen stepped up for a free kick from outside the box. Owen's strike found the back of the net, tying the match at one and giving the Aggies new life.
 
Just minutes later, Murray State was awarded a penalty kick. Mateus Valsecchi Ribeiro stepped up to the spot and calmly converted the opportunity, giving the Aggies a 2-1 lead.
 
Murray State held on through the final minutes to secure the comeback victory.
 
The Aggies return to the pitch next Wednesday, Sept. 9 at the University of Arkansas-Rich Mountain. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m.
