Murray State Men’s Soccer Tied with Jefferson College on Sunday

Box Score TISHOMINGO, Okla. - The Murray State College men's soccer team earned a hard-fought tie against Jefferson College on Sunday afternoon.
 
The Aggies came out with several promising opportunities in the opening half, creating chances around the Jefferson College penalty area but were unable to find the back of the net. Jefferson College nearly broke through about halfway through the first 45 minutes, but a shot rang off the post to keep the match scoreless heading into halftime.
 
Murray State continued to apply pressure in the second half, and the Aggies broke through in the 71st minute when James Owen found the back of the net to give Murray State a 1-0 lead.
 
Jefferson College, though, continued to send guys forward and scored the equalizer with 20 seconds to go in the match. The game would end in a 1-1 draw.
 
The Aggies have a little time off before they return to the pitch on Sept. 2 for the start of Region 2 play. Murray State will take on Eastern Oklahoma State College at noon.
