Murray men fall to Blinn on buzzer beater

Box Score By Kevin Farr
Murray State Sports Information

Battling from behind all day, Murray State rallied to tie the score before a tip-in as time expired lifted Blinn College to a 56-54 men's basketball win in the opening game of the Mitchell/Mullen's Elite 8 Festival Sunday in Enid, Oklahoma.

The Aggies trailed 27-19 at intermission but steadily remained within striking distance over the final 20 minutes. Back-to-back three-pointers from Tarrance Austin and Isaiah Lewis finally knotted the score at 54 with 1:10 remaining.

Following a Buccaneer miss, Murray State had possession with a chance at the lead, but Lewis had to force up an off-balance shot with the shot clock expiring. Blinn then missed a long-range shot in the waning seconds when Anthony Isaac snuck inside to tip in the miss as the horn sounded for the game winner.

Austin topped three players in double figures for Murray State with 15 points as Lewis contributed 12 and Treyvaughn Williams notched 11. Ezekiel Williamsonbey tossed in eight while R.J. Chatman and Ignas Juskevicius added four apiece.

Things don't get any easier for the now 2-1 Aggies in Day 2 of the event, facing nationally second-rated South Plains College at 6 p.m. on Monday.
