Murray men can’t overcome slow start

Box Score By Kevin Farr
Murray State Sports Information

Host Grayson County College raced to an early lead Thursday night and the Murray State men could never quite recover while dropping an 80-59 non-conference basketball decision.

The Aggies were limited to just 25 points in the opening 20 minutes as Grayson grabbed a 37-25 advantage at intermission. Murray State got the offense going a bit more after the break, spurred by four three pointers from R.J. Chatman as well as three treys by Jackson Lawley. The Vikings had the answer however, posting a 43-34 scoring edge in the second half.

Chatman finished the game with five threes and posted a season-best 19 points in leading the Murray State offensive charge. Isaiah Lewis added 16 with Lawley canning three treys for nine.

Treyvaughn Williams notched six points, Ignas Juskevicius had three as Stanley Harley, Rustin Coffey and Emery Eberhard were all credited with two points.

The Aggie record leveled at 5-5 and they return home Saturday coming off a four-game road swing when they tangle with the University of Arkansas-Cossatot at 4 p.m.
