No. 15 Aggies Pick up Pivotal Sweep of No. 14 Pioneers

Murray State swept Western Oklahoma State College on Monday

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 TISHOMINGO, Okla. - The Murray State College baseball team responded with a pair of pivotal victories over the Pioneers today to even up their season series.
 
Game 1: Murray State 6, Western Okla. State 5
Murray State struck first in the bottom of the first inning when Brady Taylor launched a solo home run to right field, giving the Aggies an early 1–0 lead.
 
Western Oklahoma State responded in the second inning as they would tie the game on an RBI groundout. 
 
Murray State quickly regained the lead in the bottom half of the second when Moore dashed across home plate on a passed ball to push the Aggies back in front, 2–1.
 
The Pioneers answered again in the third inning on an RBI double, evening the score at 2–2.
 
Western Oklahoma State grabbed the momentum in the sixth inning. A solo home run and an RBI groundout extended the lead to 4–2.
 
The Aggies responded with their biggest inning of the day. Tanner Norman ripped a clutch two-run double to left field that brought home Taylor and Michael Barham, tying the game at four apiece. Moments later, Moore came through with a two-run single that scored Norman and Rayner Beene, giving Murray State a 6–4 advantage.
 
Western Oklahoma State threatened in the seventh inning on an RBI single to cut the deficit to 6–5, but the Aggies were able to hold on and secure the win.
 
Eli Ramirez was electric on the mound as he threw six innings to earn the win for the Aggies while only allowing three runs and striking out four Pioneers. Isaac Gammell picked up the save with an inning of relief.
 
Game 2: Murray State 5, Western Okla. State 4
The Aggies wasted little time getting on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first inning. Rayner Beene led off the scoring with a solo home run to center field, giving Murray State an early 1–0 advantage.
 
The Aggies continued to apply pressure later in the inning. With runners on base, Marlon Moore lined a single to center field that brought home Tanner Norman and Sean Keenen, extending the Murray State lead to 3–0. Moments later, Cason Johnson added to the rally with a double to left field that allowed Moore to score, pushing the lead to 4–0. Brady LaViolette delivered another extra-base hit, ripping a double to left field that scored Johnson and gave the Aggies a commanding 5–0 lead after the opening frame.
 
Western Oklahoma State broke through in the fifth inning on an RBI single to cut the deficit to 5–1.
 
The Pioneers scored three runs in the seventh inning on a solo home run and a 2-RBI single to trim the lead to 5–4. The Aggies, though, would keep Western Oklahoma State off the scoreboard the rest of the way en route to a doubleheader sweep.
 
Carson Culbreath got the ball for the Aggies as he fired five innings of one-run baseball. Hank Brown threw an inning in relief. Brance Garrett worked two scoreless innings and Chance Baker came on in the ninth to slam the door shut.
 
The Aggies travel to Texas to take on Dallas College - Richland a week from today. First pitch is set for 1:00 p.m.
