POTEAU, Okla. – The Murray State College softball team used a powerful offensive showing to complete a Thursday sweep of Carl Albert State College.

Game 1: Murray State 12, Carl Albert State 1 (6 Innings)
The Lady Aggies wasted no time jumping on the board in the opening inning. Kaylee Carter sparked the early rally, reaching on an error that allowed Brylee Fanning and Jaliyah Simmons to score for a quick 2-0 advantage.

Murray State broke the game open in the third inning behind a huge swing from freshman Lilly Wyche. Wyche launched a two-run home run to center field, scoring Simmons and stretching the lead to four. Later in the inning, Mercades Lopez delivered an RBI double to bring home Carter and extend the margin to 5-0.

Carl Albert State answered with a run in the bottom of the third, but the Lady Aggies quickly regained control.

Wyche struck again in the fourth, crushing her second home run of the game—a three-run shot that plated Fanning and Simmons and pushed the lead to 8-1.

The Lady Aggies continued to pour it on in the sixth inning. Carter drove in Lyndee Harless with an RBI double, Lopez followed with an RBI single, and sophomore outfielder Ryann Phillips capped the scoring with a two-run double that brought home Bubba Lee and Lopez to make it 12-1.

Isabella Hardeman picked up the win for the Aggies in the circle. Hardeman threw five innings, while striking out three and giving up one run. Rylan Peevyhouse fired a scoreless inning in relief.

Game 2: Murray State 16, Carl Albert State 0 (5 Innings)
If game one was dominant, game two was an all-out offensive avalanche. Murray State erupted for seven runs before recording an out in the first inning and never looked back. The Lady Aggies showed patience early, drawing back-to-back bases-loaded walks from Lilly Wyche and Kaylee Carter to open the scoring. Moments later, Avery Beauchamp reached on an error that brought in two more runs and quickly stretched the lead.

The big blow came off the bat of Mercades Lopez, who launched a three-run home run to center field to make it 7-0. The Lady Aggies kept piling on as Jaliyah Simmons added an RBI single, and Cady Ammons followed with a three-run homer of her own to cap the massive inning. Beauchamp added another RBI knock before the dust settled, giving Murray State a commanding 12-0 lead after one.

The offense didn't slow down in the second inning as Bubba Lee crushed a solo home run to push the lead even further.

In the third, Lee stayed hot with an RBI single, and Ryann Phillips delivered an RBI double to give Murray State a 15-0 lead.

Kennedy Wardlaw opened up the top of the fifth inning with a single. Lee, then, hit an RBI double, plating Wardlaw and rounding out the scoring at 16-0.

Rylan Peevyhouse got the ball for the Lady Aggies. Peevyhouse earned the win as she fired four scoreless innings, while striking out three. Carolyn Overton came on in relief and threw a scoreless inning, while striking out two.
