Box Score 2 PINE BLUFF, Ark. – The Murray State College softball team delivered an emphatic statement on Friday, no-hitting Southeast Arkansas College in a pair of run-rule victories, 10-0 and 16-0.
Game One: Murray State 10, Southeast Arkansas 0 (5 innings)
The Aggies wasted no time setting the tone, erupting for runs in four consecutive innings to secure the shutout victory.
Murray State broke through in the second inning as Bubba Lee delivered a two-run double to left field, scoring Kaylee Carter and Mercades Lopez for an early 2-0 lead. The offense continued to roll in the third, highlighted by an RBI single from Lilly Wyche that pushed the advantage to 3-0. Wyche later came around to score on a defensive miscue, and Lopez followed with a solo home run to extend the lead to 5-0.
In the fourth inning, Cady Ammons sparked the offense with an RBI double, and Wyche added another RBI single to make it 7-0.
The Lady Aggies capped off the scoring in the fifth inning with a flurry of extra-base hits. Ryann Phillips and Brylee Fanning each recorded RBI doubles, and Jaliyah Simmons added an RBI single to bring the final score to 10-0.
Isabella Hardeman was dominant in the circle as she threw a perfect game, racking up seven strikeouts in five shutout innings to earn the victory.
Game Two: Murray State 16, Southeast Arkansas 0 (5 innings)
Murray State's offense reached another level in game two, exploding for 16 runs behind a barrage of extra-base hits and home runs.
Avery Beauchamp got things started in the second inning with an RBI double to score Carter. The Lady Aggies added three more runs in the third, including an RBI double from Simmons and a sacrifice fly from Ammons.
The fourth inning proved to be the decisive frame, as Murray State plated 10 runs. Simmons launched a three-run home run to left field, and Wyche followed with an RBI single. Carter added a two-run homer, and the Lady Aggies continued to pile on with RBI singles from Fanning and Simmons to push the lead to 14-0.
In the fifth inning, Phillips put the finishing touches on the dominant performance with a two-run double, sealing the 16-0 victory.
Carolyn Overton and Addisyn Wright combined for a no-hitter as Overton sat down the Sharks with seven strikeouts over the first four innings to earn her 10th victory in the circle on the year. Wright closed it out with a two-strikeout frame.
With the two victories, Murray State improves to 41-1 on the season and an 8-0 mark in region play.
The Lady Aggies return to action for a doubleheader against SAU Tech tomorrow. First pitch is set for noon.
