No. 6 Aggies Fall to Vikings

Murray State lost both games of the doubleheader against Carl Albert State on Saturday

POTEAU, Okla. - The Murray State College baseball team was swept in the doubleheader by Carl Albert State on Saturday.

Game 1: Carl Albert State 2, Murray State 1
Murray State broke through in the top of the fourth inning, using pressure on the basepaths to take an early lead. Michael Barham advanced to third on a wild pitch before Rayner Beene reached on an error, allowing Barham to score and give the Aggies a 1-0 advantage.

Carl Albert State answered in the bottom of the sixth inning as they delivered an RBI double to left field, knotting the game at 1-1.

The game remained tied until the ninth inning. In the bottom of the ninth, Carl Albert State scored on a passed ball, sealing the 2-1 walk-off loss for the Aggies.

Eli Ramirez tossed six innings, allowing just one run while striking out seven and keeping Carl Albert State off balance throughout his start. Out of the bullpen, Chance Baker provided a scoreless inning to keep things even, while Isaac Gammel worked into the late innings.

Game 2: Carl Albert State 9, Murray State 3
Carl Albert State wasted no time taking control in the bottom of the first, capitalizing on defensive miscues to erupt for seven runs.

The Aggies answered in the top of the second inning as Eli Ramirez drove in a run with a single to center, scoring Marlon Moore and cutting into the deficit.

Carl Albert State responded in the bottom half of the inning as they added another run on a sacrifice fly to make it 8-1.

Murray State answered back in the third inning. Tanner Norman lifted a sacrifice fly to right field to bring home Michael Barham, and later Sean Keenen grounded out to score Rayner Beene, trimming the score to 8-3.

However, that would be as close as the Aggies would get. Carl Albert State tacked on one more run in the fifth inning on an RBI single, pushing the final margin to 9-3.

The Aggies host Eastern Oklahoma State on Monday. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
