No. 13 Aggies Soar Over Jets in Doubleheader

Murray State Swept NOC-Enid on Saturday

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ENID, Okla. - The Murray State College baseball team picked up a pair of wins over the NOC‑Enid Jets in a doubleheader this afternoon to complete the four-game series sweep.
 
Game 1: Murray State 10, NOC-Enid 4
Murray State jumped out to an early lead in the first inning. Marlon Moore started the scoring with an RBI single that plated Brady Taylor, giving the Aggies a 1–0 advantage. Later in the inning, Grey Johnson ripped a single to right field that scored Sean Keenen and Michael Barham, extending the lead to 3–0.
 
The Aggies continued their offensive surge in the second inning. Taylor launched a solo home run to right field to make it 4–0. Just a few batters later, Keenen delivered the big swing of the inning, blasting a three-run home run to right field that scored Barham and Rayner Beene, pushing Murray State's lead to 7–0.
 
Taylor added to the power display in the fourth inning, crushing his second home run of the game, a line drive to center field that stretched the Aggies' advantage to 8–0.
 
NOC-Enid answered in the bottom of the fourth with a two-run single to center, cutting the deficit to 8–2.
 
Murray State added insurance in the sixth inning when Beene was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, forcing in Boston Knowles to extend the lead to 9–2. The Aggies pushed across another run in the seventh on a Keenen groundout, making the score 10–2.
 
The Jets scored twice in the bottom of the seventh on a sacrifice fly and a run that came home on a passed ball, but the early offensive explosion from the Aggies proved too much to overcome as Murray State secured the 10–4 win.
 
Eli Ramirez earned the win as he went four innings, while striking out six and allowing two earned runs. Kylen Dodge threw two innings in relief, while Peyton Eichler slammed the door shut with a scoreless seventh inning.
 
Game 2: Murray State 11, NOC-Enid 6
NOC-Enid took a 1–0 lead in the first inning on a sacrifice fly.
 
Murray State tied the game in the fourth when Sean Keenen lined a single to right field that scored Rayner Beene. The Aggies took the lead in the fifth as Beene delivered a sacrifice fly that scored Grey Johnson, and Keenen followed with another RBI single to bring home Brady Taylor, pushing the advantage to 3–1.
 
The Jets answered with a run in the fifth and another in the sixth to tie the game 3–3.
 
Murray State responded in the seventh with a big inning. Michael Barham led off with a solo home run to center field to put the Aggies back on top. Later in the inning, Keenen ripped a triple that scored Tanner Norman, and Moore brought Keenen home with a groundout to extend the lead to 6–3.
 
NOC-Enid rallied again in the eighth, scoring three runs to tie the game at six and set up a dramatic final inning.
 
The Aggies answered with a decisive rally in the ninth. Taylor delivered an RBI single to score Knowles, and Johnson came home on an error during the next at-bat. Beene then lined a two-run double to left field to extend the lead before Norman added an RBI single to cap a five-run inning and give Murray State an 11–6 advantage. The Aggies closed out the game from there to secure the doubleheader sweep.
 
Brance Garrett got the ball for the Aggies in game two. Garrett went 4 â…” innings, while striking out one and giving up one earned run. Hank Brown came on in relief to throw 2 â…” innings. Isaac Gammel picked up the win as he threw 1 â…” scoreless innings.
 
The Aggies return home to host Carl Albert State College. First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for Thursday at 1:00 p.m.
