MIAMI, Okla. — Murray State College men's basketball delivered one of its most dramatic wins of the season Saturday afternoon as
Abeeng Agot tipped in the game-winning basket at the buzzer to give the Aggies a thrilling 90-88 road victory over Northeastern Oklahoma A&M.
The game began with NEO firmly in control. Just over five minutes into the contest, the Golden Norsemen built a 24-9 advantage and maintained a double-digit lead for most of the first half. With a little more than seven minutes remaining before the break, NEO still held a 14-point cushion.
Murray State, though, responded with a critical surge late in the half. The Aggies put together a 13-2 run, tightening the game and cutting the deficit to just 41-38 by halftime.
The momentum carried into the second half as Murray State continued to chip away. The Aggies grabbed a one point lead with just over 10 minutes remaining. Over the next three minutes, Murray State erupted on a 19-4 run, opening up a 16-point lead and appearing to put the game away.
NEO, however, refused to go quietly. The Golden Norsemen mounted a furious comeback, erasing the deficit and tying the game, 88-88, with just seven seconds remaining.
On the final possession, Murray State got a shot up that missed short, but Agot rose above everyone for the offensive rebound and tipped it in as time expired, sealing the 90–88 victory and silencing the home crowd.
Agot finished with 16 points and nine rebounds, anchoring a balanced Aggie attack that saw six players score in double figures.
Aymen Kraria added 15 points and five assists, while
Haki Muhammad II scored 15 points, going a perfect 5-for-5 from the free-throw line.
Ashton Smith provided a spark off the bench with 15 points, including three shots from beyond the arc, and
Tayesen Combs connected on four three-pointers on his way to 14 points.
Malachi Schilreff rounded out the double-figure scorers with 10 points. Murray State shot 51.7% from the field and knocked down 12 three-pointers.
Murray State will host NOC-Enid on Monday, February 9. Tipoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. as the Aggies continue Region 2 play.
