Box Score 2 TISHOMINGO, Okla. - The Murray State College Aggies swept Southeast Arkansas in the home doubleheader, 13–3 and 15–5.
Game 1: Murray State 13, Southeast Arkansas 3 (6 innings)
Murray State's offense got going in the third inning when
Brady Taylor followed with an RBI double to plate
Cason Johnson. An error shortly after allowed Taylor to score and knotted the game at two.
In the fourth, the Murray State bats stayed active. A sac fly by
Brady LaViolette brought home another run before Ramirez delivered a two-run double, giving the Aggies a 5-2 lead.
Southeast Arkansas and Murray State each scored a run in the fifth inning. The Aggies scored on a RBI single by
Tanner Norman.
Murray State put the game out of reach with a seven-run sixth inning sparked by patient plate appearances, walks, and timely extra-base hits.
Michael Barham and
Marlon Moore each delivered key knocks to give the Aggies a 13-3 win in game one.
Tayte Dome picked up the win as he threw five innings, while giving up three runs and striking out seven.
Chance Baker came on in relief for a scoreless inning.
Game 2: Murray State 15, Southeast Arkansas 5 (7 innings)
An RBI single by
Rayner Beene knotted the game at one in the bottom of the third inning.
Tanner Norman followed with a pivotal bases loaded walk to give the Aggies a 2-1 lead. A sac fly by
Marlon Moore and an RBI double by
Cason Johnson built a 4–1 advantage early.
Murray State tacked on two more runs in the sixth inning, extending the lead to five.
Southeast Arkansas rallied for a couple of runs in the fifth, but Murray State answered emphatically in their half of the inning. A bases loaded walk and a Barham bases-clearing double gave the Aggies a 10-3 lead.
Rayner Beene followed with a triple to give Murray State an 11-3 lead.
In the sixth,
Fernando Jorge delivered a clutch RBI double that pushed the score to 12–3, and a sacrifice fly later brought home another run. The Aggies weren't done yet.
In the seventh, Beene hit an RBI single and
Sean Keenen delivered an RBI double, giving Murray State a 15-5 win and completing the doubleheader sweep.
Carson Culbreath picked up the win as he threw five innings, while giving up three runs and striking out four.
Heath Graf came on in relief for two innings. Graf gave up two runs, while striking out two.
The Aggies return to the diamond on Saturday, Feb. 7 to conclude the series with Southeast Arkansas. First pitch of the doubleheader is set for 12 p.m.
