Box Score 2 TISHOMINGO, Okla. – The Murray State College softball team put together a dominant day at the plate and in the circle, sweeping Barton College with two run-rule victories, winning 8–0 in six innings in Game 1 before closing the doubleheader with a 13–1 win in five innings in Game 2.
Game 1: Murray State 8, Barton 0 (6 innings)
Murray State wasted little time establishing control in the opener, scoring in the bottom of the first inning and steadily extending the lead throughout the contest. The Lady Aggies struck first when
Brylee Fanning scored on an
Adison Lee sacrifice fly to give Murray State a 1–0 advantage.
The offense continued to build momentum in the second inning as
Jaliyah Simmons delivered a two-run double, scoring
Ryann Phillips and
Brylee Fanning to make it 3–0. Murray State added to the lead in the middle innings by taking advantage of patient at-bats, timely hits, and pressure on the bases.
By the time the sixth inning arrived, the Lady Aggies were in full control. Murray State loaded the bases and brought home three runs in the frame, highlighted by a pair of sacrifice flies and home run from
Adison Lee, sealing the 8–0 run-rule victory.
In the circle,
Isabella Hardeman was sharp from start to finish, holding Barton scoreless over six innings and striking out three.
Game 2: Murray State 13, Barton 1 (5 innings)
The second game showcased Murray State's offensive firepower from the opening pitch. The Lady Aggies erupted for four runs in the first inning, with
Brylee Fanning opening the scoring with a solo home run.
Mercades Lopez followed with an RBI single, while
Avery Beauchamp added another run-scoring hit to quickly put Murray State ahead.
The power surge continued in the second inning as
Adison Lee launched a two-run home run to center field, and
Cady Ammons followed with a solo shot of her own.
Jaliyah Simmons added a double as Murray State continued to stretch the lead.
Murray State delivered the knockout blow in the third inning with a massive offensive outburst.
Kaylee Carter crushed a two-run home run to center field, and
Adison Lee added her second long ball of the game. Simmons once again came through with a two-run double as the Lady Aggies pushed the margin to double digits.
Barton managed a single run in the third, but Murray State pitching quickly shut the door, allowing no further scoring opportunities. The Lady Aggies added insurance runs and enforced the run rule after five innings to secure the 13–1 victory.
The Lady Aggies were led in the circle by
Keelie Treat. Treat threw three innings, striking out two and giving up one run.
Addisyn Wright and
DrewAnn White each hurled a clean inning in relief.
Murray State returns to the diamond on Friday, February 6 as they host Western Texas College for a doubleheader. First pitch is set for 12:00 p.m.
