TISHOMINGO, Okla. — Murray State College men's basketball came up just short Thursday night, dropping a tightly contested 74–71 decision to Seminole State College at home.
The Aggies and Trojans were locked in a dead-even battle from the opening tip, with the game tied 32–32 at halftime.
The game was tight the entire second half with neither team getting more than a five point lead. The score was tied at 71 with 19 seconds remaining. Seminole State grabbed an offensive rebound and made a game-winning three with 4 seconds to go. The Aggies would have a shot to tie it but the shot was short and Murray State fell to the Trojans on Thursday.
Murray State placed four players in double figures, led by
Haki Muhammad II and
Tayesen Combs, who each scored 15 points. Muhammad II added four rebounds, while Combs knocked down three three-pointers.
Aymen Kraria was efficient from the floor, finishing with 14 points on 6-of-9 shooting to go along with nine rebounds, four assists, and two steals.
Ashton Smith provided a spark off the bench with 10 points, five rebounds, and three assists, while
Domantas Šarauskas added nine points on 4-of-6 shooting in 17 minutes.
The Aggies shot 44.3 percent from the field and 34.6 percent from beyond the arc, finishing 8-of-10 at the free-throw line.
Murray State will travel to Miami, Oklahoma to take on NEO A&M on Saturday, February 7. Tipoff is slated for 4:00 p.m. as the Aggies continue Region 2 play.
