TISHOMINGO, Okla – Murray State College softball put together a dominant day at the ballpark, sweeping Clarendon in a doubleheader with convincing run-rule victories, 21-0 and 16-2.
Game 1: Murray State 21, Clarendon 0 (5 innings)
Murray State set the tone early in the opener, scoring at will and showcasing its power throughout the lineup. The Lady Aggies launched three home runs, with
Lilly Wyche,
Mercades Lopez, and
Ryann Phillips all going deep.
Lopez had a standout performance, finishing with two doubles, a home run, and eight total bases. Wyche added five total bases and a stolen base, while
Avery Beauchamp chipped in a double, five total bases, and a stolen base of her own.
In the circle,
Keelie Treat threw three scoreless innings, followed by a clean inning by
Rylan Peevyhouse and
DrewAnn White to complete the shutout.
Game 2: Murray State 16, Clarendon 2 (5 innings)
The Lady Aggies carried their momentum into the second game, again jumping out quickly and never looking back. Murray State powered four home runs in game two, coming from
Avery Beauchamp,
Brylee Fanning,
Bubba Lee, and
Mercades Lopez.
Lee and Lopez each totaled six total bases, while Beauchamp and Fanning added four apiece. Murray State also showed gap power with doubles from Lee, Simmons,
Kaylee Carter,
Lyndee Harless, and Lopez. Lee and
Ireland Groeber each recorded sacrifice flies, and Simmons added a stolen base as the Lady Aggies continued to manufacture runs.
In the circle, Murray State used a true staff effort, with
Isabella Hardeman,
Addisyn Wright,
Carolyn Overton,
Hailey Prince, and
Alanna Routt all throwing an inning, en route to a 16-2 victory.
The Lady Aggies return to the diamond on Thursday, February 5 as they host Barton College for a doubleheader. First pitch is set for 12:00 p.m.
