Box Score EUNICE, La. - The Murray State College baseball team delivered an explosive offensive performance Saturday, erupting for 15 runs in a victory over No. 10 LSU-Eunice, 15–8. A pair of seven-run innings powered Murray State College's dominant showing at the plate, highlighted by four home runs and consistent production throughout the lineup.
LSU-Eunice struck first in the bottom of the opening inning when Clapinski doubled to right field to score Luna, giving the Bengals an early 1–0 advantage.
Murray State quickly answered in the second inning and never looked back.
Tanner Norman tied the game with a solo home run to right field, sparking a huge frame for the Aggies.
Jackson Poage followed with an RBI groundout to plate
Sean Keenen, while
Brady Taylor added a sacrifice fly to extend the lead.
The Aggies then broke the game open with back-to-back power displays.
Michael Barham launched a three-run homer to left field, and
Rayner Beene followed with a solo shot, giving Murray State a commanding 7–1 advantage.
LSU-Eunice responded in the third inning when Clapinski struck again with a three-run home run to trim the deficit to 7–4. The Bengals continued to chip away in the fourth inning, capitalizing on a passed ball and a hit-by-pitch to close within two runs, 8–6.
Murray State answered emphatically in the fifth inning with its biggest offensive surge of the day. Poage delivered an RBI single to score
Marlon Moore, and Taylor provided the decisive blow with a three-run homer to right field. Norman later added a two-run double, and
Cason Johnson capped the seven-run outburst with an RBI single to push the Aggies' lead to 15–6.
LSU-Eunice managed two runs in the bottom of the fifth, but the Aggies' offensive cushion proved too much to overcome.
Eli Ramirez got the ball for the Aggies. Ramirez threw 3 ⅔ innings, while striking out five and giving up five earned runs.
Caden Allen came on in relief to earn the win as he threw 1 ⅓ innings, while
Hank Brown fired 3 ⅔ scoreless innings to shut the door on the Bengals and give Murray State a 15-8 victory.
The Aggies return to the diamond Sunday for the final game of the three-game series with LSU-Eunice. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
