No. 1 Lady Aggies Extend Win Streak to 20

MSC Softball Swept Northeast Community College on Saturday

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 TISHOMINGO, Okla. – The Murray State College softball team swept Northeast Community College in a doubleheader this afternoon to begin the season with 20 consecutive wins.
 
Game 1: Murray State 10, Northeast Community College 2 (6 innings)
The Lady Aggies set the tone early with a powerful offensive showing, launching four home runs and scoring in five different innings.
 
Murray State struck first in the bottom of the first when Bubba Lee crushed a solo home run to center field. The Lady Aggies added to their lead in the second inning as Lilly Wyche delivered a two-run homer that scored Mercades Lopez, and Jaliyah Simmons followed with a sacrifice fly to extend the lead to 4–0.
 
Northeast answered with a solo home run in the third, but Murray State quickly responded in the fourth. Simmons lined an RBI double to right field, and Lee followed with her second home run of the game — a two-run shot that pushed the advantage to 7–1.
 
Kaylee Carter added a solo home run in the fifth inning to continue the offensive surge. After Northeast picked up a run in the sixth, the Lady Aggies closed out the run-rule victory with a solo homer from Brylee Fanning and an RBI single from Carter that brought home Simmons.
 
Bella Hardeman picked up the win as she threw three innings, while striking out four and allowing one run. Rylan Peevyhouse hurled two scoreless innings, while striking out three.DrewAnn White threw the sixth inning game, while striking out one and allowing one run.
 
Game 2: Murray State 17, Northeast Community College 2
Murray State wasted no time in the first inning as Cady Ammons launched a three-run home run to center field, scoring Simmons and Lee. Carter followed with a solo shot to right field, and Kennedy Wardlaw added an RBI double to give the Lady Aggies a quick 5–0 lead.
 
The offense stayed hot in the second when Ammons blasted her second home run of the game, a two-run shot that extended the advantage. In the third, Fanning added a two-run homer to push the lead to 9–0.
 
After Northeast scored a run in the fourth, Murray State responded with a massive inning. Ammons crushed her third home run of the game, Wardlaw delivered an RBI single, and Fanning drove in a run with an RBI double. Jordyn Nichols followed with a two-run single, Ammons added another RBI single, and Carter capped the scoring with a two-run base hit.
 
Northeast added a run in the fifth, but Murray State's early offensive explosion secured the run-rule victory and completed the sweep.
 
Keelie Treat earned the win as she threw three scoreless innings, while striking out four. Addisyn Wright and Hailey Prince each threw an inning in relief.

The Murray State College softball team will take on Dodge City Community College on Monday. First pitch is set for 2:00 p.m. at Oklahoma State University.
