LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) released their NJCAA DII major awards this afternoon, and
Isabella Hardeman was named the NFCA NJCAA DII Pitcher of the Year.
The freshman sensation was unhittable all season for the Lady Aggies, delivering a perfect 30-0 record in the circle. She led the country with a 0.35 ERA over 140.2 innings of work. Hardeman struck out 200 hitters while allowing only 7 earned runs all season. Opposing hitters recorded a miniscule .132 batting average against the freshman from Oklahoma City.
"Our staff is excited for Isabella and our softball program," said
Coach Mullens. "Individual success is built off of team success. When teams are successful, the individual aspects of the "team" sport come to the forefront. Isabella exemplifies everything it means to be a part of a team. While she had a record breaking season on the field, our coaching staff is most proud of Isabella's character and her ability to lead by example in every facet of her life. We are extremely happy for Isabella and her recognition at the national level by the NFCA. We are very proud of how she has and will continue to represent Murray State College and the community of Tishomingo."
In addition to leading the nation in several statistical categories, Hardeman also set single-season school records for win-loss record (30-0), ERA (0.35), WHIP (0.59), and strikeouts (200) in her first season in Tishomingo.
Hardeman's dominance in the circle helped propel the Lady Aggies to an incredible 62-3 overall record and perfect 32-0 mark in Region 2 play. The Murray State College softball team won the Region 2 Southwest Plains Tournament and made the NJCAA Division 2 World Series for the fifth consecutive year. Murray State College won three games at the World Series, finishing fourth in the country.
